Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached a historic milestone in Indian politics, becoming the longest-serving head of an elected government in the country. He has surpassed Pawan Kumar Chamling by completing 8,931 days in office, combining his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister and Prime Minister, marking 25 years in continuous leadership.
This achievement reflects sustained public trust and political longevity. Over the years, Modi has set multiple records, including being Gujarat’s longest-serving Chief Minister and the Prime Minister with the longest prior experience as a CM. He is also the first Indian Prime Minister born after Independence and has won three consecutive Lok Sabha elections in 2014, 2019, and 2024.
Assuming office as Gujarat CM in 2001, he led the state for over 13 years before becoming Prime Minister in 2014. He was the first non-Congress leader to secure a full majority and later the first to return for a third consecutive term.
Beyond governance, his digital influence remains strong, with over 100 million followers on Instagram and 30 million subscribers on YouTube, making him one of the world’s most-followed leaders.
