Piyush Goyal meets Canada’s top CEOs to deepen India investment push

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met leading Canadian business executives during his visit to Canada as India intensified efforts to attract greater foreign investment and strengthen bilateral economic cooperation. The meetings focused on expanding partnerships across sectors including technology, manufacturing, clean energy, infrastructure and innovation.

Goyal interacted with CEOs and senior executives from several major Canadian firms, highlighting India’s economic growth trajectory, policy reforms and investment opportunities. He emphasised India’s emergence as a global manufacturing and innovation hub supported by initiatives such as Make in India and Production-Linked Incentive schemes.

The discussions also covered trade expansion, supply chain diversification and collaboration in emerging industries. Indian officials said the meetings aimed to encourage long-term investments and strengthen business confidence between the two countries.

The visit comes as India and Canada seek to revive momentum in economic ties and advance discussions on a possible trade agreement. Analysts believe stronger commercial engagement could open new opportunities for both countries amid evolving global economic conditions.

Business leaders reportedly expressed interest in India’s growing consumer market, digital economy and infrastructure sector. The government believes increased Canadian investment can contribute significantly to India’s long-term industrial growth and employment generation objectives.
