Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Paris on Wednesday, receiving a warm welcome from indian members in the country, while underscoring the importance of the India-France partnership for global progress.
The Prime Minister travelled from Evian-Les-Bains, where he attended the G7 Summit as the leader of a guest country. Paris marks the final leg of his two-nation visit to France and Slovakia.
In a social media post, Modi appreciated the Indian community in France, acknowledging its contribution to strengthening ties between the two countries.
“The India-France partnership is essential to the progress of our planet,” he said.
Modi is scheduled to attend VivaTech 2026 alongside French President Emmanuel Macron. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the event is Europe’s premier technology and innovation gathering, with India set to showcase the largest pavilion at this year’s edition.
The Prime Minister will also interact with the Indian community in France. About 119,000 people from India live in mainland France, while more than 350,000 people of Indian origin live in French overseas territories.
Before arriving in Paris, Modi described his engagements at the G7 Summit as productive, presenting India’s views on key governance and policy issues. He called for greater engagement with the Global South to ensure shared prosperity.
At the G7 outreach session, the Prime Minister proposed a framework to strengthen connectivity and trade by combining the strengths of the G7 nations, India, and the Global South, and the importance of partnerships based on solidarity, equality, and trust in international cooperation.
