Vietnam’s digital technology industry generated an estimated VND680.6 trillion, or $25.8 billion, in revenue in August. That was up 36% from the same month last year, according to figures from the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Exports of tech products and goods also increased. They reached an estimated $22.4 billion during the month. This was 41% higher than in the same period in 2025.
The pace builds on a strong 2026. The ministry reported that the sector generated VND622.4 trillion, or $24 billion, in April alone. That was up 38% year-on-year. Digital exports reached $20.3 billion in the same month.
Vietnam counts around 80,000 digital technology enterprises nationwide. This is a broader industry-wide figure. It is separate from the 968 registered science and technology enterprises and 20 science and technology trading platforms recorded by the ministry at the end of August.
Postal services also grew in August. Revenue reached an estimated VND9.26 trillion. That was up 3% from July and 22% from a year earlier.
The ministry is finalising new research and testing facilities to support innovation. It is also continuing work on digital transformation and shared national databases.
Vietnam approved a Digital Technology Industry Development Programme for 2026-2030 in May. The programme targets at least $300 billion in annual digital technology revenue by 2030. It also aims for $55 billion in exports, 100,000 digital technology enterprises and 16 to 20 dedicated technology parks.
