Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated and laid the foundation stone for more than ₹5,400 crore of development projects across Gujarat, including trains, roads, power, housing, and urban infrastructure.
Key announcements included railway projects worth over ₹1,400 crore. These included tripling the 65-kilometre Mahesana-Palanpur rail line, changing the gauge of the 37-kilometre Kalol-Kadi-Katosan Road line, and converting the 40-kilometre Bechraji-Ranuj line. Officials stated that these developments will improve passenger transport, freight transit, and commercial linkages in north Gujarat. Additionally, he also inaugurated a passenger train between Katosan Road and Sabarmati and a car-loaded freight service from Bechraji to strengthen industrial supply chains and employment.
In the transportation sector, he opened the Viramgam-Khudad-Rampura road and set the foundation for six-lane underpasses on the Ahmedabad-Mehsana-Palanpur highway, as well as a railway overbridge on the Ahmedabad-Viramgam line. These efforts seek to alleviate congestion and promote trade.
The Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme has announced nearly ₹1,000 crore in electricity distribution projects in Ahmedabad, Mehsana, and Gandhinagar to improve efficiency, reduce outages, and increase safety.
