Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a four-nation tour of Europe in May, marking a significant diplomatic outreach following progress in negotiations for the proposed India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The visit is expected to include key European partners and aims to strengthen economic and strategic ties.
This will be the first such multi-country European visit by PM Modi after renewed momentum in India-EU trade discussions. The FTA, currently under negotiation, seeks to enhance market access, boost investments, and facilitate smoother trade flows between India and EU member states.
Officials indicate that the tour will focus on expanding cooperation in areas such as clean energy, digital transformation, and supply chain resilience. It is also likely to include high-level meetings with European leaders, business forums, and discussions on global challenges, including climate change and geopolitical stability.
India and the European Union have been working to deepen engagement amid shifting global economic dynamics. The planned visit is seen as a strategic move to reinforce partnerships and accelerate progress on the FTA.
Experts believe the tour could play a crucial role in unlocking new investment opportunities and strengthening India’s economic footprint in Europe, while also reaffirming its position as a key global partner.
