CBSE, NCERT, UNESCO Train 290 Educators to Boost Wellness in 30,000 Schools

UNESCO, CBSE, and NCERT are intensifying efforts to incorporate health and wellness education into school systems by training over 290 school leaders in Delhi. The initiative is under the School Health and Wellness Programme (SHWP), which was launched in February 2020 as part of the Ayushman Bharat mission.

The purpose is to teach essential abilities on mental health, emotional well-being, gender equality, and nutrition to over 15 million children in 30,000 CBSE-affiliated schools.

Principals and educators from 22 states and 5 union territories attended the program, which took place in June and July 2025. Major regions included Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Assam, and Delhi. These participants will serve as master trainers, spreading knowledge and awareness to schools around the country.

At the ceremony, Anandrao V Patil, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Education, stressed the importance of aligning health education with NEP 2020. NCERT Director Dinesh Prasad Saklani emphasised the importance of instructors understanding students’ backgrounds, particularly their home settings, which might have an impact on their well-being.

To support implementation, NCERT and UNESCO created a 24-hour curriculum and training materials in several languages. Over 40,000 instructors have been educated in 754 seminars since 2022.
