India, Cambodia Expand Cooperation in Trade, Heritage, and Development

In Phnom Penh on March 23, India and Cambodia reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral ties across multiple sectors. P. Kumaran, Secretary (East) at the Ministry of External Affairs, met Prak Sokhonn to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation in diplomacy, trade, and development. Discussions highlighted the importance of strengthening multifaceted engagement between the two nations.

Kumaran also held talks with Phoeurng Sackona, focusing on heritage conservation and cultural collaboration. India’s ongoing efforts in restoring historic sites were underscored during his visits to Ta Prohm Temple and Angkor Wat, the latter being the world’s largest religious monument and a symbol of shared civilisational heritage. India has played a key role in Angkor Wat’s restoration since 1986.

Additionally, Kumaran visited the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation Asian Traditional Textile Museum, which reflects cultural linkages between the Mekong and Ganga regions. Earlier engagements with Cambodian officials, including Khy Sovanratana, emphasized expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and capacity-building initiatives, reinforcing theIndia-Cambodia partnership.
