Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Malaysia began on a warm and symbolic note, highlighting the shared values and expanding strategic partnership between the two nations. Addressing a large gathering of the Indian diaspora in Kuala Lumpur, Modi said that India–Malaysia relations are entering a new phase, driven by mutual trust, cultural bonds, and growing economic ambition. He described the diaspora as a “living bridge” connecting the two countries and celebrated the deep-rooted Tamil heritage, centuries-old links, and strong cultural continuity that unite Indian and Malaysian communities.
Modi also praised Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for his personal warmth, leadership, and commitment to reform, noting that their shared vision has added fresh momentum to bilateral ties. During his address, Modi unveiled the IMPACT framework, a roadmap to strengthen cooperation across key sectors including trade, startups, defence, digital innovation, and emerging technologies.
Positioning India’s economic rise as closely linked with Malaysia’s progress, Modi emphasised that collaboration between the two countries can unlock new opportunities for businesses, youth, and investors. He underlined the importance of people-to-people connections in shaping future partnerships and fostering long-term trust.
The visit reflects New Delhi’s broader outreach to ASEAN and reinforces India’s vision of collective growth and transformation across Asia, with Malaysia seen as a vital partner in advancing regional stability, prosperity, and shared development goals.
