The Philippines officially announced a visa-free entry policy for Indian nationals to boost tourism and cultural connections between the two countries. Starting June 8, 2025, Indian passport holders will be able to enter the Philippines without a visa for stays of up to 14 days. This program intends to attract more Indian tourists and follows a notable 12% rise in Indian tourist visits in 2024, with approximately 80,000 tourists to the island last year.
According to the Department of Tourism, Indian tourists with valid visas or permanent residency in nations such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, Singapore, or any Schengen country can have their stay extended to 30 days. The spokesperson expressed hope that the decision will encourage more Indian tourists to visit the country’s rich culture and scenic destinations.
Travellers must have a passport that is valid for at least six months after arrival, confirmed accommodation, proof of sufficient funds, and a return or onward travel ticket. The government has also implemented an e-visa system for people planning extended stays or non-tourism visits.
A digital nomad visa, as stated by President Bongbong Marcos, is being developed to entice overseas professionals seeking extended stays in the country.
