Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth roughly ₹6,500 crore in Darrang, Assam, marking a momentous day in the state’s development. He sent Janmashtami wishes, expressed gratitude at Maa Kamakhya’s shrine, and stated that the region represented cultural pride and optimism for the future.
He highlighted the inauguration of the Darrang Medical College and Hospital, the Guwahati Ring Road, and the Kurua-Narengi Bridge, which will greatly shorten travel time between Guwahati and Darrang. The prime minister emphasised that Assam is developing at about 13% per year and is poised to become India’s growth engine.
PM Modi also announced GST rate reduction on cement, cancer treatments, insurance premiums, and autos, bringing economic assistance to consumers. He urged people to purchase Made-in-India products over the holiday season.
On healthcare, he stated that Assam now has 24 medical colleges, up from six before 2014, and that the government plans to add one lakh medical seats nationwide in the future years.
The Prime Minister also issued a warning about infiltration threats, created a Demography Mission, and reaffirmed his commitment to protecting the rights of farmers, youth, and tribal communities.
