According to Thrillophilia’s Festive Travel Pulse report, Rajasthan has emerged as India’s most popular festive travel destination by 2025, surpassing Goa and Kerala. The Jaipur-Udaipur-Jaisalmer circuit accounted for 16% of total domestic traffic, ahead of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand at 12%, Goa at 10%, and Kerala at 9%.
Travel demand during the holiday season has increased by 18% year-on-year, with outbound bookings increasing by 24%. Indian visitors’ preferences are shifting, with shorter and more customised vacations marketed as “smart luxury” escapes. These vacations prioritise longer stays and unique experiences without overspending.
Domestically, uncommon destinations are becoming more popular, with Gandikota seeing a 22% increase in demand, Pachmarhi 18%, Hampi-Anegundi 16%, and Binsar 14%. Travellers from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, like Surat, Indore, and Coimbatore, are driving this spike, as are families, young professionals, and dual-income households.
According to the survey, India’s travel patterns are changing, with typical spending ranging from ₹25,000-45,000 for domestic trips to ₹60,000-95,000 for short overseas breaks by 2025.
Internationally, more than 70% of demand is centred in the Asia-Pacific hub. Dubai is the most popular destination, accounting for 16% of bookings, followed by Thailand (15%), Singapore (14%), Vietnam (10%), and Bali (8%).
