Thailand is establishing itself as a world-class filmmaking hub, using major film projects to drive tourism growth and encourage cultural exchange. According to the Thailand Film Office, which is part of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the country hosted 322 foreign productions from January to July 2025, generating more than 3.33 billion baht in revenue.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has been working closely with filmmakers to give seamless support to foreign crews, ensuring effective operations at both the local and national levels. Thailand has served as the backdrop for several global hits, including Fast & Furious 9, The White Lotus: Season 3, and Jurassic World: Rebirth. Collaborations with Netflix have highlighted Thai culture through shows like Midnight Asia and Hidden Gem.
To attract additional large-scale projects, TAT and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports introduced expanded rebate schemes in 2025, which provided international producers with unlimited financial benefits of up to 30%. Along with incentives, the “Location Thailand” campaign promotes filming sites as tourist attractions, encouraging people to visit both popular and lesser-known destinations.
Partnerships with global studios like Universal Pictures are also part of the initiative, as are technological tools like GeoFencing and AR experiences, and cooperation with local communities.
