Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met Pawan Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, the founders of Skyroot Aerospace, and congratulated them for the Vikram-1 mission success, describing the interaction as an engaging discussion on India’s growing private space ecosystem.

On X, the Prime Minister said the success of Vikram-1 featured prominently in the conversation, alongside discussions on the company’s journey and plans.

“A great interaction with Pawan Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka of Skyroot Aerospace. The success of Vikram-1 naturally featured prominently in our discussion, with many other interesting subjects. Happy to hear about their journey so far and their insights on what lies ahead. Their energy, ambition and positivity reflect the vibrant spirit of our private space ecosystem. Best wishes to the entire Skyroot team,” PM Modi said.

Skyroot Aerospace said its founders were honoured to meet the Prime Minister and share the company’s successful Vikram-1 mission and its long-term vision for India’s space sector.

The company said the discussions covered its technology, long-term roadmap and the opportunities emerging in India’s private space industry, adding that the Prime Minister’s encouragement for young entrepreneurs and confidence in India’s innovation ecosystem continues to inspire the company.

Skyroot also acknowledged the government’s reforms that opened India’s space sector to private participation and thanked IN-SPACe for enabling private spaceflight, and ISRO for providing facilities, technical expertise, and collaboration that have helped private companies develop successful space missions.

Reaffirming its ambitions, the company said, “The journey has only just begun. Onwards, from India to the world,” underscoring its commitment to strengthening India’s presence in the global space industry.
